We've made a poster for The Postal Service & Death Cab for Cutie
They're going up for sale today, maybe even when you're seeing this!
Hi. I’m gonna make a short one to counteract the Maximum Character Count Madness of the last one. Or, I’ll try…my limiting factor here is that my sister is EN ROUTE to bring me a little tiny couch for our mailorder area, because currently there’s just these tall stools to sit on. We planned for everything in there except comfort, I guess. But yeah, I don’t want to repay her favor with a test of patience, so I’ll launch into it:
We have made a poster for The Postal Service & Death Cab for Cutie.
They’re on their tour for the 20th Anniversary of their albums Give Up and Transatlanticism, respectively, and I’ve likely mentioned this elsewhere, but I’ve been a Death Cab fan long enough that I was able to eke in a mailorder on the Elsinor Records site for a copy of their “You Can Play These Songs With Chords” demo tape…it was three dollars. I also got a copy of the excellent All-Time Quarterback tape, which I always felt was sorta like a spiritual predecessor to the Postal Service stuff, except the broken-toy-instruments-recorded-on-a-walkman version.
But anyway, I’m excellent at digressions…these bands played in lovely Milwaukee last night, and here’s what the poster looks like:
A lot of the posters for this tour have focused on the Transatlanticism cover imagery, and they’ve been super cool, but I’d tried my hand at a few posters last year that dug way deep into that, and I don’t think anybody (myself included) was happy with the results, so for this go-round, I honed in on the excellent classic neon signage of a couple of the frozen custard stands right there in Milwaukee.
Jes helped out with the creative nudge on that one, and then swooped in at the end to help with color, and Rebecca printed them here in our Landland studio.
I’m gonna make the onsale info big, because it’s coming up VERY fast:
Our artist edition will be up for sale today, TUESDAY the 7th of May, at 3pm Central.
It’s probably already happened by the time you read this, especially if I keep going on and on. Here are the details:
We have an artist edition of the regular version on regular (but nice) paper…there are 72 of those. They’re $40 each, and can be found in our store.
We also have a more-limited VARIANT artist edition on nice brushed gold foil. There are only 30 of those ones. They’re $100 each, available in the same place, and they look like this:
Here are some detail shots of how the printing turned out on those…I’m really psyched that we’re able to print everything ourselves in this weird little garage. Someday I’ll give a proper tour of the place.

Alright, there’s a lot of other stuff happening over here—this month and next in particular are going to be bonkers—but I’ll have to save that for a later date.
Thanks to all the people who’ve said nice things about this poster on Instagram or wherever else. If you end up grabbing one of these day, thanks for that as well. It means a ton and helps us out a lot.
Thanks all the time,
Dan
Oh, since it’ll ask me to throw one of these in here somewhere (and then just put it wherever), here’s a button to subscribe, if you want to. I’m still getting the hang of this thing, so I appreciate the folks who are along for the ride:
Okay, for real. Time to grab a lil’ couch from my sister. She’s probably already out there waiting for me. Peace!
great posters Dan! Love them.
